Carving Pumpkins

Kam has been wanting to carve pumpkins for the last month. I have been meaning to go and buy a few pumpkins for us to do but just have never gotten around to it. A couple of days ago my friend, Annie, brought us three from her dad's patch so we finally did it. Spencer gutted all three, which afterwards he decided he would rather gut a fish-he was not a big fan of the job. Kam picked out what each one should look like, making sure that they were not too scary.

Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Kam's little preschool class went on a fieldtrip to a pumpkin patch on Tuesday. I volunteered to drive because I didn't want to miss out on some cute pumpkin photos -so here are a few from the big trip:

By the way...last fieldtrip that I went on Kam was furious. He told me that "mommies don't go to school" and refused to ride with me in my car. This time he was much better, I think he has realized that I will probably be there and he may as well just deal with it!

Mac N Cheese for breakfast

Kam is not a huge fan of breakfast. Most kids love cereal and pancakes and stuff like that but he really doesn't. He will eat it when he has to but he would much rather eat pizza or a nice cold hot dog first thing in the morning. Most of the time I force some type of breakfast item down him, but on this particular day I decided it wasn't worth the fight. So at 8am we cooked up some good old Mac n Cheese. The whole reason I am posting this is because he told me the instructions and they were so funny that I wanted to remember them in his own words:


"Ok mom- first you get the burning sack (?!?) and then you burn it in the burning sack until the water gets bubbles."



"Next you have to dump it in the sink with the bowl that has holes and get all the water out."



"Then you need water, milk, cheese, and flour (flour in boxed mac and cheese?) and you stir it front and you stir it back."



"Now we can eat it but if it has smoke then you have to blow it. If it is too hot again then you have to put some icicles on it."



I really need to write down what he says more often, some of the stuff he comes up with cracks us up! While we were at Annie's house the other day he was looking at one of her plants and he told her "Geez Annie, I really like your new weeds". Too funny!

Fall Festival

Saturday night we decided to do a test run on the whole Toby Keith costume at the Fall Festival at Young Living Farms. My mom had told me about it and we decided to go check it out. It turned out to be lots of fun for really cheap. (It cost us $4 to get in). They had tons of stuff for the kiddos like a trick-or-treat town, pony rides, hay rides, paddle boats, carnival type games, etc. Kam was excited to be going on a pony ride because Toby Keith sings about "riding his pony on the cattle drive", so we did that first thing. After he was done I asked him if he liked riding the pony and he let me know that it was not a pony-they called it a donkey (it was a mule). Oh well, he still thought he was pretty cool. By the way...the Toby Keith get up got a lot of confused stares. I thought the blond curly mullet gave it away :) I guess I have some work to do before Halloween!

Shoulda Been a Cowboy....

If any of you have been around Kam you know that he loves to sing. Recently, Spencer has gotten him hooked on Toby Keith. (Spencer hates country music, but when he was in Iraq Toby Keith came for a concert, so now he is a BIG fan). It seriously is hillarious to hear him sing. He knows every song word for word (yes, even the swear words) and sings them all the time. Well, Kam got the great idea this week that he wants to be Toby Keith for Halloween. We have been planning on being a power ranger for the last three months, but he has worn it TO DEATH and it is falling apart, so I am not too upset that he has had a change of mind. So I guess I am on the search for belt buckles, cowboy hats and cool boots.

I am sad that Kam is officially old enough to tell me what he wants to be for Halloween instead of me picking out a cute costume for him, so I am a little bit excited to do the Toby Keith thing instead of a power ranger. You can't see his cute face with that stupid mask on :)

Fun in Fillmore...

This past weekend we decided to head down to Fillmore to visit Spencer's parents. All of Spencer's sisters came down too, so it was a lot of fun. While we were there we went to a Halloween party and took a hay ride to a pumpkin patch. The kids dressed up in their costumes and they all looked too cute! Kam LOVES when he gets to play with all of his cousins, but he also has a hard time sharing very well. I guess this has something to do with him being an only child-so even though he had a few breakdowns, we had a great weekend!

Latest Scrapbook Project

I thought I would post a few pictures of my latest project. I can't take full credit-I actually saw something like it on the internet and I thought it would be a great idea. It is a Halloween album that will show Kam's costumes through the years. I finished it up to the year 2010 and I am planning on doing it for even longer, I just wanted to put it out before Halloween is actually over. I really have a problem with finishing projects, so I am pretty proud of this one! Enjoy :)
